TuckFard: A simple minded poker player who consistently calls/raises with substandard hands (not as a bluff, but because they believe that they have a good hand) then goes on to hit those terrible cards. The TuckFard does not stop there, they will then brag to the rest of the table about what a great player they are and how they just "knew" that their Q4o was going to go runner runner for 2 pair. These are the TuckFards. They can be the greatest stack builder for you or set you on a month long tilt.

Ride for the Cure Charity Game
Saturday night was the ride for a cure charity poker game over at the Carsino. It was also coincidentally the first time Nutzfirth and I were away from our little donkey/monkey for longer than 2 hours and by the end of the night, I was heard repeating complaints about my Dolly Partons aching! But back to the game....
We were 21 people strong, heavy on the Tuckfard side but with new and old friends to boot. It was nice to see such a turnout for a good cause. We all knew which table would be the action one with nutzy, carson, don_k, former "nutzlady", other couple guy, senior carson & jony-O all together on the wee octagon. My table consisted of betraisefold (under an unprecedented whiskey influence), eeyeore's wife, Suzy_Q, "nutz"gus, shockerkitten, and steve#3. The last table housed "shockers"AJ, Princess, Princess' wife, don_k's wife, Ayrzee, other couple girl, & eeyeore.
The blind structure Carson implemented allowed for lots of play, however, a family feud seemed to errupt between the Carson men (we all thought it would be the Firth's...), and our gracious host left us first! Other early big hands I witnessed, experienced, or heard were Suzy_Q's second-time-around pocket aces getting busted by pocket sixes flopping a set, eeyeore's aces getting cracked by eights (he spoke too soon and the flop gods punished him), and my set of ducks being rivered by gus' trip 10s.
After the pool of players widdled down, we were left with a final table consisting of myself, shockerkitten, jony-O, other couple guy, nutzfirth, other couple girl, Steve#3, and eeyeore. Carson dealt and the first hand I looked down at jacks. Other couple girl went all-in, I called and my hand held against her A-10. Quickly falling after were jony-O, other couple guy, and then nutzfirth when his attempt to steal eeyeore's BB with 10-6 soooted failed. We played 4 handed for what felt like forever, the chips just relocating and nobody doing much of anything until carson told us that the bubble was actually 5th. Eeyeore decided he had had enough of nutzfirth's tormenting and ran his A-10 into my pocket ladies and of course the better sex took it down. And then we were 3 -me and the Steve's again.
This is pretty much when my chest felt like it was going to burst, so we all got a lot looser, and shockerkitten fell prey to Steve#3. Rather than grind it out, he and I decided to play the last hand open and split the pot. I took the title when my 6-2 straightened out and I have to admit, after having not really played much in the last 4 months, it felt damn good to win the first hopefully annual ride for the cure. I'll add it to my other wins like the 1st feed the monkey, the second season of the TF series, and splitting the 1st JFMemorial with carson.
Thanks to the Carsino for putting up with all of us again! Can't wait to go after the next title!

This place is dead
Man what a year. A lot has happened with the TuckFards this year. Right off the bat all I have to say is:
I'm Oil! Cause it's SEXY! and Being a daddy Rocks!
Brody's the best, I almost have him figuring out how many outs he has, and when to get in dirty. I'm working on his poker face, he has a huge tell. Every time he get's Aces he makes the same face.
We have 3 big games planned this summer, with SuzyQ's Ride to Conquer Cancer game coming up first on the 18th of April. We'll have the Feed the Monkey game in June, (Defending Champ Baby! You know I'll have a good bounty for this one.) and The Johnny Memorial sometime in August. We hope to attract 30+ for each of these games.
League Poker after 2 first place seasons, the 3rd season seems to be falling apart. Now that were in a new location, (long story, that I'm not sure I should tell yet.) just doesn't have the same feel. It's tight and cramped, the tables suck, and the teams are a bit f'd up with the whole "Situation". I might just be bitter cause were still waiting to be paid off from last years win. But it seems I've just lost the love I had for Sunday poker. I hear they want to go to tournament style games next season anyways. Both teams are playing well. I have no clue where each team stands, I think TuckFards are in 5th or 6th, and Tuck Off is in 6th or 5th. hehe. Like I said, I've lost the love.
Poker past has seen some good cashes for the TuckFards, although I can't remember the last game I cashed at.
Carson took down Eh! Vegas in untypical Carson style. He jumped to an early chip lead and steam rolled the final table, then grind'd out a Heads up battle where the chip lead went back and forth until he beat Astin. It was really a great game from what I remember. I lost 5 bucks to VinNay when I bet against Carson. Man was carson pissed! What ever, he won, my planned worked. Suck it up. Thanks to Kat for hosting a great event. Then to top it off A week later him and DonK show up at AJ's game and end up going HU and he won that too. DonK also had a good cash at the RiverChasers game when he took 2nd. How the hell can DonK hit 2nd in a game called the RiverChasers, don't you people know the secret of sucking out on the river against DonK?
TuckFard Season VI, Now that shits over, I think it might be a good idea to start it up again. I see a whole golf/poker Saturday thing going on.

TEAM POKER STARTS AGAIN
Following a 1 month break from team poker, season #3 commenced on February 8th. I tell ya .... we were all looking forward to the team poker starting again and this time there were going to be 2 tuckfard teams in the mix.
At one point, there was going to be 12 tuckfards playing so we decided to do a random draw to determine the rosters. The roster changed a bit following a few last minute cancellations but here are the teams:
Team TuckFards
DonKaaa
nutzcarson
nutzfirth
SuzyQ
Team TuckOff
johnny2pair
Gazoo
Brunsen
Princess
When we all showed up at Dokota Sports that day, there were rumours of no team poker as there were only 3 teams registered but as you would expect, everyone was waiting until the last minute to register their teams including us.
Just before the scheduled start time, a captains meeting was called to take a vote. Team Poker vs. Individual Poker. At this point there were 10 teams registered and the decision was a unamimous one. We're playing team poker. PHEW......
In pretty typical TuckFard fashion, we had a solid day at the tables. nutzcarson got off to a great start and won his table with a whopping 6 bounties. nutzfirth finished 3rd at his table with 1 bounty, I got 3rd at my table and SuzyQ finished 6th at hers. Thats a 32 pointer to start off the season. Not bad at all. Should be good enough for 2nd as the Rounders team posted a 47 point week. Well done you guys.
Team TuckOff also had a pretty good week posting 30 points. Princess made it to heads up and in the end he finished 2nd with 3 bounties, Brunsen played heads up against nutzcarson and got 2nd with 1 bounty, johnny2pair managed a 3rd place finish with 1 bounty and Gazoo finished 4th at his table.
Now there is one other team worth mentioning. They are a fun bunch of guys and all great poker players that have been in the hunt for the big prize the last few seasons. In season 1, they finished 3rd behind Kiss My Ace and last season they finished 4th and just out of the money. This year, they have built a team of SUPERS. They recruited in my opinion the best player from the NUTZ team and the best player from KISS MY ACE and created their new and improved team ONE TIME to take a serious run at the title and on paper they are the team to beat. I believe they also got 31 or 32 points in the first week.
Good luck to all team and we'll keep you posted on our progress each week.

At 5:33 PM Jan. 7/09 Baby Brody Jason John Firth entered this world. Here's a quick peek. Don't worry I'm told he'll grow into his hoofs and ears.

Team TuckFard Week #15 - The Final Stand
Just a few short weeks ago, team TuckFard had finally taken over the lead in the team poker event at Dakota Sports. We had entered into week #13 with a 10 point lead and riding a hot streak.
WEEK #13
Week #13 seen the TuckFards do what we have never done in the history of the team poker event ..... WE BLEW A LEAD!!!! The NUTZ mounted a late season charge at us and posted a big score during week #13 to snatch the lead back from us.
WEEK #14
We started week #14 only 4 points back of the NUTZ and we knew what we had to do and believe me CHOKING was not part of the plan. What made things worse was that TotalTilt was sparing for the team that day (her score doesn't count) and she ran over her table with 5 bounties and 15 points which is only 2 less than the entire team got that day. OUCH !!! Bad Timing there. Who the heck is the captain that allowed that chit to happen? .... Stupid DonKaaa !!!
WEEK #15
We actually didn't know how far back we actually were until we showed up at Dakota Sports yesterday after our team breakfast meeting. 14 Points... which is a little more than we were expecting and enough of a lead to overcome that our game strategy had to change slightly. I felt bad for Nutzy who couldn't play for the team as he had to goto work that afternoon. He felt totally and completely helpless..... Well actually thats nothing new ... LOL j/k buddy.
The team to make our final assault was Princess, Betraisefold, TotalTilt, Gary and myself. Carson volunteered to be the spare basically going on his gut instincts as to who is playing well and who is not. A tough decision as Carson was the individual winner last season.
By first break, everything seemed to be going to plan. The entire team had more than a starting stack and 3 of us had close to a double stack. I managed to bust the NUTZ player at my table when I tripped my pocket 10's on the flop and pushed against a pot bet. She tanked for a bit and eventually called my all-in with pocket Q's to the 10 high board. Weeeee .... YEAH ME !!!
Both TotalTilt and Princess busted fairly early but so did 3 of the NUTZ players. TotalTilt told me shortly after second break that the 3 of us (Gary, Betraisefold and myself needed to make up 17 points on the remaining 2 NUTZ players). We still had alot of work to do for sure but all 3 of us were in pretty good position at each of our respective tables.
Both of the NUTZ players finished 4th at their tables which now left our fate completely in our own hands. By this time, Gary was heads-up and both Betraisefold and myself were 4-handed. After a good heads up match with Natasha, Gary won his table and mathematically we were the overall winners by 1 point but not leaving anything to chance and possible mathemtical errors on our part, we needed to post some more points. Shortly thereafter, Betraisefold had also won his table and this secured the title.
I'll can't tell ya the relief I felt when TotalTilt came over to my table (the last table playing and still 3-handed) and whispered in my ear that we had already beat the NUTZ by 1 point without my score and that my points were gravy. I finished with 7 points and that capped the 38 point day to come from behind and steal our 2nd team poker victory and our 2nd trip to VEGAS !!!!
WTG TUCKS !!!
I do want to say congrats to the NUTZ whom had a great season and made it exciting to the very end. You guys played incredible all season.
Congrats also goes out to The Poker Pimps who managed to overcome a 10 deficit the final day to take 3rd place overall from the Shockers.
Finally, congrats to Darcy in winning his final table to take the overall individual lead. Well done !!!

Monday, well it was TuckFarded....
Just wanted to shout out a quick thanks to everyone that made our games last night. What a great group for both events!
In the tuckFard I, TheGoatlady managed to take down the win. Memphis and Kat did their best to give her a run for her money but in the end, they had to settle for second and third places respectively. My Peb's made a rare appearance and managed to build her stack up considerably to start. She just ran completely card dead, while the blind levels just kept on working their way up. She money bubbled in fourth.
Always nice to see everyone out for the fun, including Bay, Muhc and Scotty. We were also treated to a real surprise when we were joined in progress by Schaubsy. That totally rocked!!!
The TuckFard II also had a special guest, as Drizz managed to drag himself out for the donkery. Peb's handed the control over to me for this game, as O/8 is not really her cup of tea. I managed to be the first loser after making a pretty bad read on my outs to a draw. It cost me way to many chips to see a river card, only to then figure out I'd read my hand incorrectly. (Yes I called myself a donk out loud!)
For a couple of weeks now, we've been joined by more and more RailBirds. This could be a great thing, as they are a group very much like the Tucks. They love to play, love to chat and seem to be generally good folk from all the times I've managed to run into a few of them here and there. It would be great to get our Monday night numbers up into the steady 20's and 30's I think so hopefully, word will spread out to a few more of them and we can fill a few more tables every week.
One last but not least thought....
Merry Christmas TuckFards !!
